What is an oversized casket?
Oversized caskets are caskets with dimensions that are larger than that of a standard casket. Although the dimensions of a standard casket may vary slightly depending on the manufacturer, it usually measures around 83 inches in length and about 28 inches in width on the outside.
Usually, oversized caskets come with the same length as a standard casket but have different widths, ranging from 29 inches to up to 44 inches. However, you can also find a few oversized options that are longer than 83 inches in length. These are designed to hold individuals who are taller than 6 feet and 5 inches. The different types of oversized caskets
If your loved one needs an oversize casket the funeral home will advise you with the elbow-elbow dimensions of your loved one to determine if an oversize casket is needed.
Copper or bronze oversized caskets
Bronze and copper are two of the most popular materials used to make metal caskets. Although they’re prone to oxidation, they’re highly resistant to rusting and corrosion. This makes them durable and allows them to last for a longer period of time.
Copper and bronze caskets are generally categorized according to their weight per square foot, which is measured in ounces. You can typically find 32-ounce and 48-ounce caskets in the market.
If you’re looking for an oversize casket that can stand the test of time, caskets made from either copper or bronze may just be what you need. However, keep in mind that these caskets tend to be more expensive, especially the ones that are heavier.
18 Gauge Metal oversized caskets
18 Gauge Metal is a common metal that is widely used to make various products, including caskets. Due to their relatively inexpensive nature and their exceptional durability, oversized caskets made from 18 Gauge metal are the most popular and also the least expensive when purchased from Casket Emporium. Funeral Homes charge an average of $4500 -$5500 depending on the size of interior needed for your loved one.
One of the many things you’ll like about these caskets is that you have the freedom to make choices on different colors and interiors. The lower the gauge, the thicker the steel is. And as you may have guessed already, caskets made of lower gauge steel are often more expensive than those that use steel of a higher gauge.
Casket Emporium offers oversized steel caskets of high quality in both 20-gauge and 18-gauge options at highly affordable prices. With several exterior color options, a high-gloss finish and striking designs to choose from, you can ensure that your loved one is honored well when you put them to rest.
